Interior Design Projects | Before & After | Part One

I thought it was high time I posted some pics of some of the interior design projects I've worked on this year. Many of them are now completed so I've managed to persuade my lovely clients to take some snaps or to let me pop back in to take some.

Residential Projects

The brief for this home was fairly straight forward. Basically they told me to 'remove the pink!' Other than that they wanted a family friendly, monochromatic kitchen and also wanted to use wallpaper somewhere in the home. The bathrooms are yet to be completed.

These clients wanted a kitchen that suited the size and era of their double story 100 year old villa. A wall was removed to create a large family kitchen with a walk in pantry. They were also keen to keep as much of the villa feel as possible, therefore cornice details and ceiling roses were matched as closely as possible to other areas of the home.

Art Deco Home
These clients wanted to use plenty of colour and keep their renovation true to the Art Deco style. I can only find the before pics of the bathroom for this one unfortunately.

In the next post I'll show you some work I've been doing on some investment properties, commercial buildings and student flats. In the meantime, I hope you all have a great Christmas & NY. Talia x

Marble Luxe

Marble homewares are still popping up everywhere and are now being used in unexpected shapes and colours, from hexagon to round, green to black.
I'm a big fan of clustering decor objects in groups and trays make the perfect styling tool. They help to 'ground' all the objects and assist in making them look like they belong together. All our marble pieces can be used as trays & this black marble option from Bloomingville is a great size for the centre of a coffee or dining table. Find it here
Update your kitchen by placing a marble board in front of your favourite wooden chopping boards on the bench. Layering your everyday kitchen essentials is an effortless way to add some interest to your benchtop.

My Blue + White Bedroom

I have finally managed to take a few snaps of our bedroom now that it's almost finished. There are a few skirting boards to go on, some shelves to be put into the wardrobe space, a little bit of painting and a few artworks to be hung but other than that we are pretty much there. Next job is to tackle the ensuite!
We decided to stick with the wall colour that we painted not long after we moved in. The bedroom gets great light and we love the inky dark blue colour combined with the freshness of the white which has been used on the floors, skirts, window surrounds and internal wall. The blue paint is Dulux Piha and the rest of the room is Resene Alabaster.
The wall was built to allow for a walk through wardrobe to be tucked in behind it. We decided to put two chests of drawers on the opposite wall to create more storage for clothing and also somewhere for us to put our everyday bits and pieces.
The size and price of the round K-Mart mirrors made them the obvious choice to put into the walk through wardrobe space. I've hung them on some Zakkia concrete hooks to tie in with the concrete side tables from MintSix. The door is still waiting to see a paintbrush. I ran out of enthusiasm by the time I got around to that side of the room, so it stayed in it's fairly average looking original state.
The ladder at the end of the drawers is great for hanging scarves and handbags. Although these are yet to go online, we sell them at MintSix so please inquire for deets. The plant on top of an old Ikea Expedit unit, is happily housed in one of my all time favourite products, a rose gold Uashmama bag
The bed linen is also from MintSix and is a pale grey stonewashed linen. I used the dark grey pillowcases for some contrast and it turns out that they work very well with the 'Long Road' Wall Decal. Bonus. These are available in two sizes, check out the MintSix website to view this decal and some of our other options.
I've long been a fan of wall lights, these ones in particular. We don't have a huge amount of space on either side of the bed so wall lights were an ideal choice, leaving a little more space on the bedside tables. These particular lights are a reproduction based on the AJ wall light, designed by Arne Jacobsen.
I'm pretty happy with the view from my side of the bed, although it's not making it easy to get out in the morning....
All in all, I'm pretty happy in my new bedroom environment. Nothing stays the same for too long around here (the nature of my job) so I'll keep you updated with any tweaks or changes. Follow me on Instagram for daily snaps of my home + store. Instagram
